When we decided to move our family back to the Rogue Valley two, very full, years ago…Mark and I knew we would have a laundry list of things we would dearly miss about living full-time in San Diego. We were thrilled to be coming back “home” to our beautiful Oregon…breathing the fresh air and living a quieter life off the busy freeways of SoCal, but we weren’t unrealistic about the fact that we loved the amount of culture & “city life” a big city provided. Last winter, while dreaming my big dreams about where I wanted to invest my time, and writing down new business goals for the coming years, I felt overwhelmingly lead to find a way to bring even a teeny bit of that “big city culture” to our quaint little valley. Alas, I decided to begin hosting some Creative Workshops, as my time would allow.
My heart was to curate an environment, and an event, that would allow those hungry for more, to commune with other like-minded creatives and deepen ourselves. No matter the medium (photography, painting, calligraphy, styling, florals, etc), I wanted to bring more opportunity to our doorstep to enrich our creative sides and learn, grow and enjoy the process with others. Supporting local businesses and artists in the process, but also mixing in artists in from afar, my hope is to continually pour more love into this community and curate times to provide what people would like to enjoy more of, together.
The entire process for this first Creative Workshop, has been a busy labor of love. But I’ve also enjoyed every single moment of it and have met the most incredible, beautiful, inspiring, lovely women to share the spoils with!
Jenna Rainey of Mon Voir Calligraphy & Fine Art had been on my radar for some time. I had always desired to grow my meager calligraphy and painting skills, and she continually inspired me with her perspective. Having her travel up from the Los Angeles, CA area with her buckets of brushes and nibs was the perfect kick-off to my Creative Workshop goal. And what an amazing experience it’s been! She is simply a wonderful person with such a great capacity to teach…she kept us all laughing and inspired with her relaxed approach to her art. Such a joy to learn from!
My talented friend Terrie, of Allure with Decor, did such an amazing job turning my common shooting grounds in the back of EdenVale Winery‘s historic old barn, into the warmest, loveliest of spaces for us to crank our creative engines.
There’s nothing like a bottle of EdenVale wine to relax after an intense morning of growing our calligraphy skills! And our view from the winery was picture perfect Oregon spring; all blues & greens & puffy clouds…the perfect inspiration for the upcoming afternoon Floral Watercolor course!
An INCREDIBLE bunch of ladies full of so much talent, kindness and joy!
Our fun swag bags, full of amazing local business goodies, looked seriously adorable styled by Allure with Decor on some of her beautiful parisian rental furniture…I just need her to come to my house now. 🙂
Resetting the barn for our afternoon watercolor course was amazing…I was in la-la-land laying out some of Jenna’s pieces, paint tubes, more sweets & treats…and the whole while the weather was turning. Warm, windy, dense storm air was pouring into the barn filling it with the amazing smells and light of spring. We were all so fired up & inspired…couldn’t WAIT to get started painting!
These delicious platters of treats, handmade with love and without anything artificial…I’m simply spilling over with adoration for my dear friend Nicole’s baked goodies at Mon Chou Sweets. Everything she touches melts into a little pool of gold on your tongue…simply spellbinding! She gifted our day with her dainty french macaroons and incredible caramel apple hand-pies. Absolute perfection and she has the most giving heart in all of Oregon!
Nothing compares to spending an entire day learning, creating and sharing amazing time with our groups of wonderful women….I was blown away. Jenna is an incredible artist, teacher and lady whom I so admired before, and now absolutely ADORE! She came into our home with the premise of bringing some amazing art into this Rogue Valley, but she did far more than that. She stole our hearts with her natural humor, incredible gifts and patient teaching. Such a gem…and we hope to have her back again soon! xo
