A journey is a person itself…no two are alike. – John Steinbeck
Year after year, decades after my photographic journey began, I’m still amazing by the openness of the people I meet, and the honesty of their story. To allow someone into your life, to tell your story through their own eyes, is so intimate.
Trust. It’s one of the most integral parts of what I do. When a couple like TJ & Laura allow me into their lives time and time again, year after year, to capture and tell the most intimate of love stories about their life together, it’s perfection. When I look back over all the years, and all the moments I’ve been able to capture for them, I’m truly taken aback. Well first, I feel old. 🙂 But then I’m elated to have known them and adored them and photographed them for this long. Their trust and friendship are gold to me…
As clients, TJ & Laura are always open to new ideas…always game to try anything. Because they trust me. They trust I know them, and their love story. And they trust me to capture timelessly beautiful images of them, at whatever moment they are at in their lives.
Their engagement session was just the beginning. We played on an ancient bridge, closed off to the busyness of life but still holding such a treasure in it’s vast trestles. Then we moved to a friend’s ranch where they played with my beloved friend Maximilian, the beautiful Andalusian dressage horse I was riding at the time, and wandered the warm San Diego countryside. Breathtaking.
Laura’s beautiful bridal portraits, along with their incredibly gorgeous Point Loma wedding, still are some of my most favorite…timeless.
The boudoir session I did with Laura, to create such an intimate groom’s gift for TJ, was effortless and romantic…and SO MUCH FUN! We still laugh to this day about all the giggles and fun we had…which is what I always want my boudoir clients to feel: beautiful and full of joy.
Their maternity session, in Oregon wine country and my own back pasture, was one of the sweetest things. TJ was beaming at Laura, and she was so beautiful…so full of life!
And just recently…I had the immense joy of capturing sweet baby Daniel as a newborn. His light-filled, serene nursery and sweet, velvety skin were more than I could handle. Every detail…every moment…all the heart eyes for these friends.
TJ and Laura just celebrated another wedding anniversary this month, and we already have another special shoot on the calendar… 🙂 Nothing makes me happier than to see my clients and friends grow in their love, and to be there to capture it all. Making their memories into heirlooms, for them to share and cherish forever, is such a sweet, sweet honor. And I’m SO grateful. xo
